Junior Melissa Proffitt (Hubbardston, Mass./Quabbin Regional) earns her first Soarin Falcon award of the season after leading Fitchburg State to a perfect 3-0 week.

Proffitt led the Falcons to a solid 3-0 week with victories over Western New England (52-44), Fisher (73-28), and Emerson (77-71), while averaging 12.3 points and 8.7 rebounds. The junior standout controlled the post all week, recording double-double efforts of 20 points and 11 boards against Emerson and 13 points and 11 caroms vs. Western New England.

For her efforts, Proffitt was named the MASCAC's Women's Basketball Player of the Week. She has led the Falcons offensively, ranking second on the squad with 11.1 points per game and 7.7 rebounds. The junior foward has also tallied a team-high ten blocks, while ranking third overall with 16 assists.

The Fitchburg State women's basketball team is off until after winter break when it visits Curry College on January 3rd.
