Freshman Jamie Kelley (Pepperell, Mass./North Middlesex) earns her first Soarin Falcon award after being named the Little East Conference Rookie of the Week.

Kelley collected her first league honor, leading Fitchburg State to a LEC playoff berth. The Falcons topped the University of Southern Maine, 2-1 in quarterfinal action before falling to UMass Dartmouth in the semifinals.

Kelley led the Fitchburg State offense with six points, posting three goals over two games played. Kelley lifted the Falcons to a 3-0 shutout victory over Becker with a pair of markers, while posting one score in a 2-1 victory over Southern Maine.

Kelley has been nothing short of stellar during her rookie campaign, ranking third on the team in scoring with 18 points (5 goals, 8 assists). In just her first season within the LEC, Kelley ranked eighth overall in assists while ranking as the top freshman in the category.

The Fitchburg State field hockey team finished its 2009 season with an overall record of 14-5, while posting a 9-2 mark in the Little East.
