Junior Matt Muolo (Stoneham, Mass./Stoneham) earns his first Soarin Falcon award of the season after posting a pair of Division III New England qualifying marks this past week.

Muolo led Fitchburg State at the Jay Carisella Invitational hosted by Northeastern University as he qualified for the DIII's in the 35 pound weight throw and shot-put. The junior thrower finished eighth overall in the weight throw with a distance of 14.84 meters (48-8.25), while posting a tenth place showing in the shot-put with a throw of 13.54 meters (45-5.25).

For his efforts, Muolo was named the MASCAC's Field Athlete of the Week.

The Fitchburg State indoor track team will be back in action next weekend as it travels to Harvard University on Saturday at 11 a.m.
