Junior Robert Vorse (Leominster, Mass./Bay State Breakers) earns his first Soarin Falcon award of the season after leading the Fitchburg State ice hockey team to a 1-0 week.

Vorse led the Falcons to a 3-0 victory over Franklin Pierce University last week, posting his first career shutout with 15 saves in the contest.

Last season, Vorse was stellar in net for Fitchburg State, posting a 10-3-3 record with a .929 save percentage and 484 saves. For his effort, Vorse earned both ECAC Northeast Goalie of the Year honors and New England Sports Writers New England Region All-Star honors.

The Fitchburg State ice hockey team (1-0-0, 0-0-0 MASCAC) will be back in action on Friday as it hosts the inaugural IC Credit Union Shootout starting at 5 p.m.
