Ice Hockey Rolls Past Vikings In MASCAC Action

Bondarev & Halbig collect two assists each for Green & Gold

Fitchburg, MA – The Fitchburg State Ice Hockey team defeated the Vikings of Salem State, 6-1 this evening in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action from the Wallace Civic Center.

How It Happened

Fitchburg State opened the scoring six minutes into the first period as freshman Aleksei Filimonov (Saint Petersburg, Russia) settled a feed from classmate Andrey Bondarev (Stockholm, Sweden) and graduate student Christian Halbig (Queenstown, MA) and fired a shot into the back of the net for his 12th marker on the year for the 1-0 edge.

The Falcons doubled their margin (2-0) midway through the frame when junior Hunter Dunn (Douglas, MA) buried a shot into the left side of the net for his 13th marker of the season with assists from junior Declan Bronte (Victoria, AU) and junior Andrew Woloszyn (Windham, NH). The Green and Gold pushed the margin to 3-0 at the 15:19 mark as senior Jack Saavedra (Mishawaka, IN) settled a feed from junior Kristopher Zapata (Cherry Hill, NJ) and newcomer Anthony DeLuca (Andover, MA) and struck for his fourth goal of the 2025-26 campaign.

In the middle frame, Fitchburg State upped the lead to 4-0 at the 12:17 mark with sophomore Marcus Macchioni (North Kingstown, RI) connecting on his eighth tally on the season with assists junior Nicklas Millhorn (Brownstown, MI) and freshman John Mantone (Nashua, NH).

Following a score from Salem State, the Falcons extended the advantage to 6-0 when junior Jackson Collins (Wake Forest, NC) and newcomer Tye Battipaglia (Cheshire, CT) collected markers.
