Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State men's ice hockey team used a fast start to skate past MCLA 3–1 on Saturday afternoon at the Wallace Civic Center.

How It Happened
The Falcons struck first in the opening period when John Mantone (Nashua, NH) found the back of the net at 2:13, assisted by Andrey Bondarev (Stockholm, Sweden), giving Fitchburg an early 1–0 lead. Aleksei Filimonov (Saint Petersburg Russia) added to the advantage at 7:54, set up by Tye Battipaglia (Cheshire, CT), before Devin Niles (Hatfield, MA) extended the lead to 3–0 with a 19:48 goal assisted by Declan Bronte (Melbourne, AUS) and Aleksei Filimonov.
MCLA finally got on the board in the second period as Quinn Murphy scored with help from Christopher Gallagher, but the Falcons' defense and goaltending held firm the rest of the way, preserving the two-goal margin.
