Men's Basketball Upend Chargers In Non-Conference Action
Jackson registers game leading 25 points for Green & Gold
New London, NH – The Fitchburg State Men's Basketball registered a 90-81 victory over the Chargers of Colby-Sawyer College this afternoon in non-conference action from the Robert L. Coffin Field House.

How It Happened
First Half
Colby-Sawyer raced out to an early 8-0 lead as graduate student Emmanuel Adarkwa (Lawrenceville, GA) netted a pair of buckets and freshman Tobey Bellows and junior Sean Peterson (Chester, NH) added one basket each before Fitchburg State answered back to take a 15-14 edge with buckets from junior Tommy Engel-Chatten (Hopkinton, MA) and classmate Jalen Jackson (San Antonio, TX).
The Chargers pushed the lead to 25-22 as Peterson sank a pair from the charity stripe, but the Falcons responded to take a 30-26 advantage with Jackson, senior Duvall Price (Lanham, MD) and junior Jaiden Greene (Adelanto, CA) notching buckets.
The hosts knotted the score at 34-34 when sophomore Andrew Blunt (Alexandria, VA) knocked down a three pointer before the Green and Gold regained the lead with Jackson leading the way with seven points to make the score 45-39 going into the break.
Second Half
Following the intermission, Colby-Sawyer trimmed the deficit to 48-44 as sophomore Elijah Thomas (Fairfax, VA) hit a three-ball before Fitchburg State extended the lead to 61-51 when junior Xavier Smaltz (Allentown, PA) and classmate Anthony Joseph (Palm Bay, FL) connected on layups.
The Chargers reduced the lead to 67-60 on a pair of free-throws by newcomer Tevin Edmunds, but the Falcons pushed the margin to 74-61 with senior Trevor Oliver (Doulas, MA) throwing down a dunk.
Colby-Sawyer answered when senior Junior Efosa converted a layup and free-throw (80-69) before Fitchburg State secured the victory with senior Nicolas Von Zboray (Sacramento, CA) registered a jumper, resulting in the 90-81 final
Inside the Numbers
- Jackson led the way for the Falcons with a game-leading 25 points, five rebounds, two assists and three steals
- Price added 15 points, nine caroms, one assist, one steal and one block
- For the Chargers, Adarkwa finished with 22 points, six boards, one assist and one steal
- Blunt chipped in 14 points
- Fitchburg State shot 30-for-66 (45.5%) from the field and (4-of-19) 21.1% from three point range
- Colby-Sawyer finished 29-of-68 (42.6%) overall and (7-for-19) 36.8% for beyond the arc
