Zach Desrochers, Men's Track & Field
Senior Zach Desrochers (Dracut, Mass./Greater Lowell) collects his fifth Soaring Falcon honor of the season after recently being tabbed Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASACAC) Men's Field Athletic of the Week as announced by the league office Sunday evening.
Desrochers led the Fitchburg State men's outdoor track and field team as they competed at the 2013 MASCAC/Alliance Championships on Saturday afternoon hosted by Bridgewater State University. The third year Falcon placed first among both MASCAC and Little East Schools with a new meet record toss of 51.02 meters in the discus, while also earning an Alliance Championship in the hammer throw with a toss of 55.29 meters
Zach is currently ranked 11th in the country among all division three schools in the discus, while also ranking 16th nationally in the hammer throw.
The Fitchburg State men's and women's outdoor track & field teams return to action this weekend as members competer at the 2013 DIII New England Championships hosted by Colby College, starting on Friday at 4 p.m.
