Fitchburg, Mass.– The Fitchburg State University men's ice hockey team dropped a hard-fought overtime MASCAC Semi-Final contest to Westfield State University 4-3 on Saturday evening at the Wallace Civic Center.

How It Happened.
After a scoreless first period, Westfield netted the first two goals of the second stanza and added an early third-period tally to build a 3-1 advantage. The Falcons began their rally late in the middle frame when Aleksei Filimonov recorded his 14th goal of the season to cut the deficit to one heading into the third.
Fitchburg continued to press in the final period and completed the comeback in dramatic fashion. With just eight seconds remaining in regulation, Devin Niles buried his 17th goal of the season at the 19:52 mark off assists from Christian Halbig and Hunter Dunn to even the score and force overtime.
In the extra session, the Owls capitalized at 4:13 to secure the 4-3 victory.
