Ice Hockey Falls To AMCATS In Conference Tilt
Filimonov registers one goal and one assist for the Green & Gold
Fitchburg, MA – The Fitchburg State Ice Hockey team dropped a 7-3 decision to the AMCATS of Anna Maria this evening in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action from the Horgan Arena.

How It Happened
Anna Maria opened the scoring 1:59 into the first period when sophomore Liam Wells (Oshawa, ON) collected a feed from classmate Tobias Omholt (Bergen, Nor) and sophomore Nolan Ring (Porcupine, ON) and found the back of the net for his first tally on the season for the 1-0 edge.
In the middle frame, the AMCATS extended the lead to 5-0 on goals from Wells, senior Max Pelletier (Rimouski, QC), senior Braeden McKinnon (Holland Landing, ON) and freshman Kenny Kalman (Bogota, NJ).
Fitchburg State answered 49 seconds into the third period as junior Hunter Dunn (Douglas, MA) struck for his 13th marker on the year with an unassisted power-play goal to make the score 5-1. The Green and Gold found the back of the net again two minutes later when freshman Devin Niles (Cheshire, CT) settled a feed from classmate Aleksei Filimonov (Saint Petersburg, Russia) and deposited a shot into the left side of the net for his 12th tally on the year to make the score 5-2.
The Green and Gold trimmed the lead to 5-3 just twenty seconds later with Filimonov finding the back of the net on an unassisted goal for his 12th of the season. Anna Maria secured the victory at the 12:54 mark with Pelletier finding the back of the net, resulting in the 7-3 final.
