Men's Ice Hockey Shuts Out Rams In MASCAC Action

FRAMINGHAM, MA: The Fitchburg State men's ice hockey team took down the Rams of Framingham State this evening in MASCAC action, 8-0.  

THE BASICS:

Score: Fitchburg 8, Framingham 0

Records: Fitchburg (3-4, 2-0 MASCAC), Framingham (1-4, 0-2 MASCAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The Falcons tallied a lopsided number in the first period of five goals to none. John Mantone (Nashua, NH) got it started, marking his first collegiate goal of his career. He was followed by Nicklas Millhorn (Brownstown, MI)Aleksei Filimonov (St. Petersburg, Russia)Nathan Dann (Trail, BC), who scored on a power play, and Jackson Collins (Wake Forest, NC).

- The Falcons added two more in the second, making it 7-0. This time, it was Tye Battipaglia (Cheshire, CT) and Alexandre Bauvais (Meudon, France) who scored. Mantone would then add his second of the game as the only goal in the third period, getting the 8-0 final.

Frederick Soderberg (Harrison Township, MI) got the win in goal for the Falcons, making him 3-2 on the season after making 22 saves in the shutout. Liam Kilgallen started and allowed five goals and made 10 saves in the loss (0-1). Owen Swanbon came in to complete the final 39:50 of the game, allowing three goals and having 14 saves.

-  Penalties: Fitchburg 10 minutes on 5 infractions, Framingham 13 minutes on 5 infractions.
