Men's Basketball Soars Past Bulldogs In Non-Conference Action

Jackson leads the way for the Falcons with a game leading 21 points

Fitchburg, MA – The Fitchburg State Men's Basketball registered a 93-81 victory over the Bulldogs of Dean College this evening in non-conference action from the Parkinson Gymnasium.

How It Happened

First Half

Fitchburg State took a 14-4 advantage to open the contest as junior Tommy Engel-Chatten (Hopkinton, MA) drained a three-ball and classmate Jalen Jackson (San Antonio, TX) added a pair of buckets before Dean trimmed the deficit to 14-8 with junior Donnary Fontenot (Atlanta, GA) and senior Christian Yeates (Atlanta, GA) sank two free throws each.

The Bulldogs reduced the margin to 21-16 when senior Xavier Boyd (Loganville, GA) notched a pair of jumpers, but the Falcons pushed the lead to 30-16 with Jackson and Engel-Chatten netting buckets as well as a three pointer from senior Nicolas Von Zboray (Sacramento, CA).

The Green and Gold upped the lead to 35-22 when senior Duvall Price (Lanham, MA) hit a layup before the visitors answered back with buckets from junior Naser Motley (Everett, WA) and freshman Mac Shosa (Manchester, NH) to make the score 37-28 going into the break.

Second Half

Following the intermission, Fitchburg State extended the advantage to 52-35 as Engel-Chatten and junior Joshua Jean Charles (Dorchester, MA) netted layups, but Dean responded with a pair of jumpers from senior Moussa Berete (Richmond, VA) to cut the deficit to 54-45.

The Bulldogs trimmed the lead to 70-53 as Motley hit a jumper before the Green and Gold upped the advantage to 79-56 when Engel-Chatten and junior Braeden White (Spencer, MA) connected on buckets as well as three-ball by Price.

The visitor cut the deficit to 87-71 on a layup by senior Xavier Rubio (San Diego, CA), but the Falcons secured the victory as Jean Charles notched a layup, resulting in the 93-81 final.

  • Jackson led the way for the Falcons with a team-leading 21 points, seven rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal
