Jackson’s 33 Points Lifts Men’s Basketball Over Castleton in Overtime

FITCHBURG, MA: The Fitchburg State men's basketball team took down the Spartans of Vermont State Castleton in non-conference action in an overtime thriller this evening, 81-79.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- After a slow start with shooting, the Falcons came back in the first half after being down 18-5 early on. They finished the first half with a 30-29 lead. The second half turned around as the Spartans made a late run to close the one-point gap. They held the lead going into the final seconds, but Jalen Jackson (San Antonio, TX) scored his 16th point to tie the game and force overtime. The overtime period was back-and-forth, but Jackson again made a big play with a drive to the basket with less than eight seconds remaining to score the final two points of the game.  

- Will Radcliff was unstoppable for the Spartans in this game, finishing with a double-double. He scored a team-high 26 points, grabbed a game-best 16 rebounds, and dished out a team-high four assists. Ben Seiler also posted big numbers with 24 points after going 6-12 from three.

- Jackson topped the Falcons in points and rebounds, earning a double-double. He finished with a game-high 33 points and a team-best ten rebounds. Takoma Rosario (Vista, CA) also had a great game, finishing with 16 points and a game-best seven assists. Nicolas Von Zboray (Sacramento, CA) hit four crucial threes at the end of the second half to rally and maintain the Falcons' lead, totaling 12 points.

-  Three Point Shots: Castleton 41.4% (12-29), Fitchburg 31.3% (10-32)
