Women’s Indoor Track Open 2025-26 Campaign At Springfield College
Camara qualifies for All-New England's in the 60 meter hurdles with time of 9.04 seconds
Springfield, MA – The Fitchburg State University Women's Indoor Track & Field team opened their 2025-26 season today as they competed at the 2025 Springfield College Season Opener Meet at the Springfield College Field House.

How It Happened
Senior Makany Camara (Lowell, MA) led the way for the Green and Gold, taking top honors in the high jump with a DIII New England qualifying mark of 1.63 meters and second overall in the 60 meter hurdles with an All-New England qualifying time of 9.04 seconds.
In the 60 meter dash, sophomore Arieyana Robinson (Worcester, MA) (21st), senior Alanis Velez (Lowell, MA) (22nd), newcomer Dehkontee Cooper (Haverhill, MA) (28th) and classmate Nevaeh Hurley (Fitchburg, MA) (29th) posted times of 8.88, 8.89, 9.13 and 9.15 seconds, while in the 1000 meter, junior Gwendolyn Connors (Ayer, MA) (3:30.75) and senior Cassandra Israelson (Saugus, MA) (4:19.24) placed first and fourth in the event.
In the 200 meter, Robinson (30:42) and Cooper (34.48) finished 21st and 23rd, while in the 3000 meter, senior Skye Goba (Norton, MA) took top honors with a time of 11:02.30. The 4x400 meter relay team of Velez, Connors, Hurley and Scott finished fourth overall with a time of 4:58.26.
In the field, junior Taylor Crout (Boise, ID) finished eighth overall in the shot put (9.90M) while senior Cassandra Israelson (Saugus, MA) placed 12th in the shot put (8.39M). Newcomer Maya Ortiz (Webster, MA) added a 22nd place effort in the shotput with a toss of 5.59 meters, while in the weight throw, Crout and Israelson finished seventh and 16th with tosses of 12.78 meters and 9.88 meters.
In the long jump, senior Trishannah Scott (Fitchburg, MA) and Velez placed 11th and 12th with marks of 4.33 meters and 4.18 meters.
