Kirouac Earns MASCAC Player of the Week Honor

FITCHBURG, Mass. (September 20, 2010) – Fitchburg State freshman Jillian Kirouac (Leominster, Mass./Leominster) was named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women’s Soccer Player of the Week as announced by the conference office Monday morning.
The rookie net-minder collects her first career weekly honor after leading Fitchburg State to a 1-1 week and brining the Falcons to the top of the MASCAC leader board. Throughout the week, Kirouac tallied nine saves, including four stops in a 1-0 overtime shutout vs. Salem State University and five saves in a 4-0 setback to #16 Eastern Connecticut State University.
This season, Kirouac has been a great addition to the Falcons squad, seeing action in all five contests as a true freshman. Between the pipes, she has registered a 3-1-0 record with 25 saves over 386 minutes of work. Currently, Kirouac ranks fourth among all MASCAC goaltenders with a 1.40 goals against average, while ranking fourth overall with a .806 save percentage.
The Fitchburg State women’s soccer team (3-2-0, 0-0-0 MASCAC) will be back in tomorrow as it travels to UMass Boston for a non-conference match starting at 3:30 p.m.
