Women’s Lacrosse Picked Sixth In Pre-Season Poll
Falcons notch 19 points in 2209 MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Coaches Poll
FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Fitchburg State women's lacrosse team was recently picked sixth overall in the 2020 MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Pre-Season Poll as announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon.
The Rams of Framingham State University were selected to win the 2020 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse championship in a vote of the league's coaches. The reigning MASCAC Regular Champions collected six first place votes for a total of 47 points.
Bridgewater State followed in second with a total of 40 points, including the remaining two first place ballots. Westfield State was picked to finish third with 39 points, while Worcester State was next, registering 31 points after being selected fourth.
Sitting in fifth was Massachusetts Maritime Academy with a total of 25 points, while the Falcons of Fitchburg State were picked sixth after amassing 19 points. Salem State and MCLA rounded out this year's poll in seventh and eighth place with 16 points and seven points respectively.
The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the nation's oldest Division III men's and women's playing conference, has a rich and storied tradition of competitive success while celebrating excellence in the classroom. MASCAC member schools include Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University. Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sports of football and men's ice hockey, while Western Connecticut State University joined the conference as an affiliate member in the sport of football for the 2013-14 academic year.
