FITCHBURG, Mass. – Fitchburg State freshman guard Emma Thomson was recently tabbed Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Thomson earns her first weekly accolade of the season after averaging 18 points, 3.5 boards, 1.0 assist, 2.0 steals and 1.0 blocks per game in a 2-0 week for the Green and Gold. The first-year Falcon registered a game-best 33 points on 11-of-16 shooting from beyond the arc as well five rebounds, one assist and three steals in an 80-62 win over Anna Maria on Tuesday before adding three points, two boards, one assist, one steal and two blocks in a 71-61 triumph against Curry on Thursday.
The Fitchburg State women's basketball team (3-3, 0-0 MASCAC) returns to action on Tuesday as it hosts the Mustangs of Mount Ida for a contest starting at 7 p.m.
