Fahey And Muolo Named MASCAC Players Of The Week
Sophomore Amy Fahey (Wilmington, Mass./Wilmington) and senior Matt Muolo (Stoneham, Mass./Stoneham) were recently tabbed the MASCAC Players of the Week in their respective sports for the second consecutive week as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Fahey and Muolo earn weekly honors for the second consecutive week
FITCHBURG, Mass. (December 12, 2011) – Sophomore Amy Fahey (Wilmington, Mass./Wilmington) and senior Matt Muolo (Stoneham, Mass./Stoneham) were recently tabbed the MASCAC Players of the Week in their respective sports for the second consecutive week as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Fahey collects her fourth MASCAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honor of the season, while Muolo earns his second MASCAC Men’s Field Athlete of the Week accolade of the year.
On the court, Fahey kept the Falcons perfect through nine games, averaging 26 points and 7.5 rebounds in 2-0 week for Fitchburg State. The sophomore forward totaled another 30 point effort on the season with 30 points and eight rebounds in an 89-73 victory over Western New England, while also adding 22 points and seven caroms in 82-79 triumph over Lasell.
Muolo continued his dominance in the track and field arena, posting New England Division III, ECAC and All-New England qualifying marks for the second consecutive week. The senior thrower finished third overall in the weight throw at the All-Division Harvard Open, posting a mark of 17.26m. In addition, Muolo added a tenth place finish in the shot-put with toss of 13.51m.
The Fitchburg State women’s basketball team (9-0, 0-0 MASCAC) will be back in action tomorrow night as it hosts Mount Ida College at 7 p.m. The Falcons men’s and women’s track squads will be off until after the new year, when they compete at Tufts University on January 14th.
