Fitchburg State senior Keon Valcourt (Brockton, Mass./Brockton) was named the MASCAC Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week by conference officials this afternoon.FITCHBURG, Mass. (March 23, 2009) -
Valcourt collects his first MASCAC weekly honor after opening the Falcons 2009 outdoor campaign with a top finish at the Northeastern Husky Spring Invitational this past weekend. The senior standout earned first place honors in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a total time of 10:19.76. For his efforts, Valcourt was tabbed Fitchburg State's "Soaring Falcon" of the Week.
Valcourt returns to action this spring after having a successful 2008-2009 indoor track season. The veteran leader help propel Fitchburg State to a top 20 finish at the Division III New England Championships as the four-man distance medley relay squad placed 18th overall with a time of 10:52.38.
The Fitchburg State men's and women's outdoor track teams will be in action this coming weekend as they compete in the Worcester City Meet on Saturday starting at 11 a.m.
