LeBlanc Collects Second MASCAC Weekly Honor

Ashburnham, Mass. native named MASCAC Field Athlete of the Week

FITCHBURG, Mass. (February 9, 2009) - Fitchburg State sophomore Alex LeBlanc (Ashburnham, Mass./Oakmont) was tabbed the men's indoor track MASCAC Field Athlete of the Week by the conference office this past weekend.

LeBlanc earns his second MASCAC Field Athlete of the Week accolade after capturing top honors in the pole vault for Fitchburg State at the Tufts Indoor Stampede. LeBlanc was the top MASCAC performer in the event, recording a mark of 14 feet, 2.75 inches.

Earlier this season, LeBlanc collected his first Field Athlete of the Week honor after placing first overall in the Tuft's Winter Invitational pole vault. The sophomore standout bettered his Division III New England leading mark in the contest, posting a winning vault of 14 feet, 9 inches.  

The Fitchburg State men's and women's indoor track teams will be in action again this weekend as they travel to the Valentine's Day Invitational on Saturday at 11 a.m.
