Falcon Duo Sweeps MASCAC Weekly Honors
Bourassa named Field Athlete; Guevara Mateo selected Track Athlete & Rookie
Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State Men's Outdoor Track senior Liam Bourassa (Shirley, MA) was recently tabbed Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Outdoor Track Field Athlete of the Week, freshman Paulino Guevara Mateo (Cambridge, MA) was selected MASCAC Men's Outdoor Track Athlete & Rookie of the week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Bourassa earned his fifth weekly accolade of the 2026 campaign after taking top honors in the javelin with an All-New England qualifying toss of 69.14 meters as well as placing first overall in the hammer throw with an All-NE qualifying toss of 55.89 meters. Concluded the day, finishing fourth overall in the discus with an All-New England qualifying throw of 47.05 meters as well as placing fourth in the shotput with an All-NE qualifying throw of 15.42 meters for the Falcons at the 2026 DIII New England Championships, hosted by Springfield College this past weekend.
Guevara Mateo collected his fifth weekly honor of the season after placing first overall in the 5000 meter with an All-New England qualifying time of 14:41.75 for the Falcons at the 2026 DIII New England Championships, hosted by Springfield College this past weekend.
The Falcons return to action on Saturday as they compete at the 2026 All-New England Championships, hosted by Bryant University.
