Men’s Track Places Third At 2026 MASCAC MITK Championships
Norton, MA – The Fitchburg State University Men’s Indoor Track & Field team placed third with a total of 134 points at the 2026 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championship Meet, hosted by Wheaton College on Sunday.
Guevara Mateo sets meet record times in the 3000 meter & 5000 meter

Senior Liam Bourassa (Shirley, MA) led the way for the Falcons, placing first overall in the shotput with an All-New England qualifying toss of 15.45 meter and first in the weight throw with an All-NE qualifying toss of 17.45 meters, while senior Cameron Monette (Winchendon, MA) placed second in shotput with a mark of 13.37 meters and second in weight throw with an All-New England qualifying mark of 16.49 meters.
Sophomore Shamar Richburg (Rio Vista, TX) was also solid for the Green and Gold, finishing fourth in the long jump with a mark of 6.45 meters and first overall in the triple jump with a DIII New England qualifying mark of 13.30 meters, while newcomer Paulino Guevara Mateo (Cambridge, MA) placed first overall in the 5000 meter with an All-New England qualifying and meet record time of 14:57.30 and first the mile with a time of 4:20.62 as well as finishing first in the 3000 meter with an All-New England qualifying and meet record time of 8:29.98.
In the 60 meter, sophomore Jaiden Madden (Lynn, MA) finished 12th overall with a time of 7.40 seconds, while in the 60 meter hurdles, sophomore William McGurl (Billerica, MA) placed tenth with a time of 10.30 seconds.
In the mile, juniors Samuel Edwards (Townsend, MA) and Joshua Lancaster (Holden, MA placed third and tenth with times of 4:26.29,and 4:59.87, while in the 400 meter, junior Alvaro Castillo-Clottier Jr (Palmer, MA) placed 11th overall with a time of 55.58 seconds.
In the 200 meter, Clottier turned in a eighth place time of 24.04 seconds, while in the 800 meter, senior Omar Elmi (Worcester, MA) placed fifth with a time of 2:13.07, while in the 3000 meter. Edwards finished third overall with DIII NE qualifying time of 9:34.70 and Burns finished eighth with a time of 10;09.72.
In the 600 meter, senior Brady Madigan (Ayer, MA) (3rd), and Moriello (9th) posted times of 1:27.78 and 1:34.15, while 1000 meter Edwards (2nd), junior Lemuel Del Valle (Lawrence, MA) (9th), junior Matthew Gill (Ayer, MA) (tenth) and Lancaster (11th) posted times of 2:42.66, 2:56.50, 2:57.31 and 3:00.28.
In the 5000 meter, Burns placed seventh overall with a time of 17:20.91, while the 4x200 meter relay team of Madden, sophomore Christopher Adamchek (Carlisle, MA), junior Derrick Tawiah (Worcester, MA) and junior Jesse Moriello (Saugus, MA) placed fourth with a time of 1:37.95.
The 4x800 meter relay team of Elmi, junior Matthew Gill (Qyer, MA) , Del Valle and Lancaster placed fourth overall with a time of 9:34.51, while the 4x400 meter relay team of Tawiah, Castillo, Madigan and Moriello placed fourth overall with a time of 3:45.55
In the field, freshman Cameron Borges (Fall River. MA) (9th), classmate Vishnu Pithani (Mansfield, MA) (11th) and junior John Koutsouoa (Birdsboro, PA) (14th), notched tosses of 11,72, 11.49 and 10.51 meters in the weight throw, while in the shotput, Borges finished sixth with a toss of 12.27 meters.
In the long jump, freshman Angel Lockward (Santo Domingo, DN) (11th) and newcomer Kevin Tawiah (Worcester, MA) (14th) notched marks of 5.66 meters and 4.89 meters, while freshman Emile Rabinovich (Freeland, WA) placed third overall in the pole vault with a mark of 3.40 meters.
In the triple jump, junior Tafari Byfield-Felton (Fiskdale, MA) finished second overall with a DIII New England qualifying mark of 13.17 meters.
