Falcon Duo Sweeps MASCAC MITK Weekly Honors

Bourassa tabbed field athlete of the week; Guevara Mateo named track & rookie of the week 

Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State Men's Indoor Track senior Liam Bourassa (Shirley, MA) was recently named Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Indoor Track Field Athlete of the Week, while freshman Paulino Guevara Mateo (Cambridge, MA) was selected MASCAC Men's Indoor Track Athlete and Rookie of the week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

Bourassa collected his first weekly honor of the season after placing second overall in the weight throw with an All-New England qualifying toss of 17.16 meters, while placing first overall in the shotput with an All-NE qualifying throw of 15.89 meters at the 2026 Wesleyan Indoor Invitational on Saturday.

At the 2026 Bryant Throwing Competition on Wednesday, Liam finished third overall in the weight throw with an All-NE qualifying mark of 16.89 meters, second in the discus with a toss of 43.80 meters as well as setting a new school record in the shotput with an All-New England qualifying throw of 16.03 meters.

Guevara Mateo also earned his first weekly honors of the 2025-26 campaign after placing second overall in the 3000 meter with a time of 8:44.84 and first in the mile with a time of 4:21.01 for the Falcons at the 2026 Wesleyan Indoor Invitational on Saturday.

The Falcons return to action on Saturday as they compete at the 2026 Branwen Smith-King Invitational, hosted by Tufts University, starting at 10:00AM.
