Fitchburg State Notches Top 15 Finish at the D3 New England Championships
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Fitchburg State men's indoor track & field team placed 15th at the 2016 New England Division III Men's Indoor Championships hosted by M.I.T.
The Falcons were led by a trio of sophomores, including Ben Sattiewhite, who finished second in the high jump at a height of 2.04 meters. Classmate Chavinskee Milcent finished right behind Sattiewhite in 3rd place at 1.99 meters. Both qualified for the All-New England Championships @ Boston University and the ECAC Championships @ Ocean Breeze, Staten Island, N.Y. in the coming weeks. Second-year Jake Hastings finished a solid 8th in mile in a time of 4:29.85.
Qualifying for All-New Englands with a personal best time of 1:23.93 in the 600 meter was junior Chauncey Beatty. Freshman Cameron Stalters also ran well in 60 hurdles with a time of 8.83 seconds. Junior Brian Amaral ran the 3000 meter in 8:48.01 and qualified for the ECACs.
Hastings and Beatty, along with senior Richard Ethier, IV and freshman Anthony Darrigo, finished seventh in the 4000-meter distance medley relay. They qualified for the All-New England Championships with a time of 10:38.81.
Also performing well in the field events were sophomore Timothy Breen, 18th in the pole vault with a mark of 4.10 meters; and senior Akhiel Willis, 15th in the triple jump at 13.00 meters.
Qualifiers from the Falcons' men's indoor track & field team will compete next Friday and Saturday, February 26-27, at the All-New England Championships, hosted by Boston University.
