Falcon Duo Sweeps MASCAC Weekly Awards
Graduate student Chris Kibler (Bath, Maine) and sophomore Ben Bottrell (Malden, Mass.) swept the MASCAC’s Men’s Indoor Track weekly awards this week as announced by the conference office Sunday evening.
Kibler tabbed Athlete of the Week; Bottrell named Field Athlete of the Week
FITCHBURG, Mass. (December 16, 2013) – Graduate student Chris Kibler (Bath, Maine) and sophomore Ben Bottrell (Malden, Mass.) swept the MASCAC’s Men’s Indoor Track weekly awards this week as announced by the conference office Sunday evening.
Kibler earns his first weekly honor of the 2013-14 campaign, after being named MASCAC Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week. Chris qualified for four post-season honors in the mile run with an ECAC qualifying time of 4:14.39 to place first overall in the event for the Falcons at the 2013 Jay Carisella Meet hosted by Northeastern University, while also placing fourth overall in the 1000 meter run with a DIII-NE qualifying time of 2:36.76. With his time in the mile, Chris currently ranks first in the NCAA Division III in the mile run.
In the field, Bottrell also collected his first weekly honor of the season, after being tabbed MASCAC Men’s Indoor Track Field Athlete of the Week. Ben registered a DIII-NE qualifying mark of 1.88 meters in the high jump for the Falcons at the 2013 Northeastern University Jay Carisella Meet on Saturday afternoon.
The Fitchburg State men’s and women’s indoor track & field teams will be in action again after the winter break as they visit Tufts University on January 18th for a meet starting at 10 a.m.
