Men’s Track Sweeps Weekly MASCAC Awards
The Fitchburg State men’s indoor track and field team swept the MASCAC Athlete of the Week awards this past week as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Kibler tabbed MASCAC Track of the Week; Muolo earns third straight Field AOTW award
FITCHBURG, Mass. (January 31, 2012) – The Fitchburg State men’s indoor track and field team swept the MASCAC Athlete of the Week awards this past week as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Seniors Chris Kibler (Bath, Maine/Morse) and Matt Muolo (Stoneham, Mass./Stoneham) both collected weekly honors being named the MASCAC Track Athlete of the Week and MASCAC Field Athlete of the Week respectively.
Muolo sparked the Falcons this past weekend at the MIT Coed Invitational, posting potential NCAA qualifying marks en route to his third consecutive weekly honor of the season. Muolo dominated the field in the weight throw, taking top honors with a distance of 18.62m, while also capturing first place in the shot-put with a toss of 14.32m.
Kibler was just as strong on the track for Fitchburg State at the Boston University Terrier Invitational. At the All-Division meet, Kibler blazed the competition, posting an NCAA provisional and first place effort in the 5,000m run with a time of 14:45.61.
The Fitchburg State men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to Tufts University at 11 a.m.
