Fitchburg State Shines At ECAC Championships
Members of the Fitchburg State men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams were in action this weekend as they competed in the ECAC Championships at the Armory Track and Field Center.
Kibler surpasses school record again; Men’s DMR cracks record books as well
FITCHBURG, Mass. (March 4, 2012) – Members of the Fitchburg State men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams were in action this weekend as they competed in the ECAC Championships at the Armory Track and Field Center.
Senior Chris Kibler (Bath, Maine/Morse) continues to make his mark on the Fitchburg State record books, as the distance runner surpassed his previous school record in the 3000m, beating his time by six seconds at the ECAC Championships. Kibler turned in a third place performance, finishing with a time of 8:28.97.
In the field, sophomore Zach Desrochers (Dracut, Mass./Greater Lowell Tech) placed third in the weight throw with a distance of 18.24m, ranking him 18th in the nation, while senior Matt Muolo (Stoneham, Mass./Stoneham) placed fourth with a toss 18.05m. Muolo also finished 11th in the shot-put with an effort of 14.71m.
The men's Distance medley relay also set a school record of 10:26.19 as Jim Quinlan, Brandon Davis, Will Lary and Chris Kibler set the tone for the Falcons.
The Falcon women also ran one of their fastest 4x800m relay times (Harrison, Roy, Wilkinson, Marrone) with an effort of 9:49.22, while sophomore Samantha Wilkinson (Wakefield, Mass./Wakefield) and freshman Jenae Wilkinson (Sioux Falls, S.D./Washington) ran strong in the 500m, wrapping up the Falcons top performers with times of 1:20.51 and 1:21.32. Freshman Arthina Roberts (Lynn, Mass./Lynn Voc Tech) also notched a time of 8.30 in the 60m dash.
Select members of the Fitchburg State indoor track and field teams await their selection to the NCAA Championships on March 10th.
