Muolo Named MASCAC Field Athlete Of The Week
Senior Matt Muolo (Stoneham, Mass./Stoneham) collected his tenth weekly honor of the season after being named the MASCAC’s Field Athlete of the Week by the conference office Monday afternoon.

FITCHBURG, Mass. (May 10, 2011) – Senior Matt Muolo (Stoneham, Mass./Stoneham) collected his tenth weekly honor of the season after being named the MASCAC’s Field Athlete of the Week by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Muolo led all Falcons at the DIII New England Championships hosted by MIT this weekend, bettering his school discus record and his provisional qualifying mark for the NCAA Championships. The senior thrower finished second in the event with a distance of 49.33m while also turning in a 12th place performance in the javelin with an effort of 53.05m.
To round out the afternoon, Muolo turned in a sixth place effort in the hammer throw, tossing a distance of 51.83m, while adding a throw of 13.65m in the shot-put.
Muolo and members of the Fitchburg State men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams will be back in action next weekend as they travel to the All New England Championships at 11 a.m.
