Muolo Named MASCAC Field Athlete Of The Week

FITCHBURG, Mass. (February 14, 2011) – Fitchburg State senior Matt Muolo (Stoneham, Mass./Stoneham) was named the MASCAC’s Field Athlete of the Week as announced by the conference office this past week.
Muolo collects his second MASCAC weekly honor of the season after leading the Fitchburg State men’s track and field team to a second place finish at the MASCAC Championships. Muolo was the Falcons lone double-winner of the afternoon, earning top honors in both the shot-put and weight throw.
The veteran thrower garnered a new MASCAC record in the weight throw, posting an effort of 17.54m. In addition to his weight throw accolades, Muolo was also strong in the shot-put, out-throwing all other MASCAC competitors with a toss of 10.55m.
Members of the Fitchburg State men’s and women’s track teams will be in action again next weekend as they compete at the Division III New England’s.
