Stakley Named MASCAC Track Athlete Of The Week

FITCHBURG, Mass. (February 8, 2011) – Junior Julian Stakley (Gales Ferry, Conn./Ledyard) was named the MASCAC’s Track Athlete of the Week as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Stakley collects his first weekly honor of the season after leading the Fitchburg State men’s track and field team at the Tufts University Stampede this past Saturday. Stakley finished third overall in the 60m dash with a time of 7.10s, while qualifying for the Division III New England and ECAC Championships with a preliminary time of 7.05s.
Over the past two weekends, Stakley has been on a post-season tear, registering DIII NE marks in the 200m and 400m events as well. At the MIT Coed Invitational, Stakley record a third place performance in both events, finishing with qualifying times of 23.24s and 61.68s respectively.
The Fitchburg State men’s and women’s indoor track teams will be back in action this Saturday as they travel to the University of Southern Maine for the Alliance/MASCAC Championships starting at 11 a.m.
