LeBlanc Named MASCAC Field Athlete Of The Week

Ashburnham, Mass. native earns second weekly honor of the season
FITCHBURG, Mass. (February 22, 2011) – Fitchburg State senior Alex LeBlanc (Ashburnham, Mass./Oakmont) was named the MASCAC’s Field Athlete of the Week as announced by the conference office this past week .
LeBlanc collects his second MASCAC weekly honor of the season after leading the Fitchburg State men’s track and field team at the Division III All-New England Championships. LeBlanc sparked the Falcons in the field, earning fourth place in the pole vault with a height of 4.40m.
Last week, LeBlanc was just as strong, taking top honors in the pole vault at the MASCAC/Alliance Championships hosted by the University of Southern Maine. At the Championships, LeBlanc notched a new league record, vaulting a height of 14 feet, 2.75 inches.
Members of the Fitchburg State men’s and women’s track teams will be in action again this weekend as they compete at the All-New England Championships this Friday (4p.m.) and Saturday (11 a.m).
