Ice Hockey Trio Sweeps MASCAC Weekly Awards
Dunn named POTW; Soderberg tabbed GOTW; Battipaglia selected ROTW
Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State Ice Hockey junior Hunter Dunn (Douglas, MA), classmate Frederick Soderberg (Harrison Township, MI) and freshman Tye Battipaglia (Cheshire, CT) were recently selected Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Ice Hockey Player of the Week, Goaltender of the Week and Rookie of the Week respectively as announced by the conference office on Monday.
Dunn earned his first weekly honor of the 2025-26 campaign after collecting six points on four goals and two assists as well as a pair of game winning goals. Hunter netted one score with the game winner and an assist in a 4-1 victory against Westfield State on Thursday before adding a hat-trick and one helper in a 7-1 triumph over Rivier on Saturday.
Soderberg collected his fourth weekly accolade on the season after stopping 57 shots with a 1.04 goals against average and a save percentage of .966. Frederick made 36 saves in a 4-1 win over Westfield State on Thursday before adding 22 saves in a 7-1 triumph against Rivier on Saturday.
Battipaglia registered his first weekly award after posting five points on two goals and three assists. Tye collected one assist in a 4-1 victory over Westfield State on Thursday before adding two goals two helpers in a 7-1 triumph against Rivier on Saturday.
The Fitchburg State Ice Hockey team (14-5-0, 7-1-0 MASCAC) returns to action on Thursday as they host the Rams of Framingham State for a conference matchup, starting at 6:30PM.
