Ice Hockey Pair Earn MASCAC Weekly Accolades

Niles tabbed rookie of the week; Soderberg named goaltender of the week

Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State Ice Hockey freshman Devin Niles (Hatfield, MA) was recently selected Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Ice Hockey Rookie of the Week, while junior Frederick Soderberg (Harrison Township, MI) was named MASCAC Ice Hockey Goaltender of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday.

Niles collected his second weekly honor on the season after netting one goal with the game winning marker in the Falcons 2-1 victory over the AMCATS of Anna Maria College on Saturday afternoon.

Soderberg earned third straight weekly accolade of the 2025-26 campaign after totaling 27 saves with a 1.00 goals against average and a .964 save percentage in the Green and Gold's 2-1 victory against the AMCATS of Anna Maria on Saturday.

The Fitchburg State Ice Hockey team (6-4-0, 4-0-0 MASCAC) returns to action on Tuesday as they travel to New England College to take on the Pilgrims in non-conference action, starting at 7:00PM.
