Falcon Duo Sweeps MASCAC Weekly Awards
Freshman Max Lorenzen (Leesburg, Va./Valley Jr. Warriors) and junior Randy Wolcott (East Haven, Conn./Wisconsin-Stevens Point) swept the MASCAC’s Ice Hockey weekly awards this week as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Lorenzen tabbed MASCAC Player of the Week; Wolcott named Goalie of the Week
FITCHBURG, Mass. (November 5, 2012) – Freshman Max Lorenzen (Leesburg, Va./Valley Jr. Warriors) and junior Randy Wolcott (East Haven, Conn./Wisconsin-Stevens Point) swept the MASCAC’s Ice Hockey weekly awards this week as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Lorenzen earns his first weekly honor of the 2012 campaign, after being named MASCAC Men’s Ice Hockey Player of the Week. The first year forward tallied three points on two goals and one assist in a 0-1-1 week for the Falcons. Lorenzen notched his first collegiate point with a helper in Fitchburg State’s 2-2 overtime draw with Wentworth at 2012 IC Federal Credit Union Shootout before posting a pair of scores in the Falcons 4-3 setback to Becker.
In net, Wolcott also earned his first weekly honor of the season, after being named MASCAC Men’s Ice Hockey Goalie of the Week. The junior net-minder totaled 49 saves on the week, including 29 stops in a 2-2 tie with Wentworth on Friday evening. The second year Falcon also recorded 20 saves in a 40 minute relief effort against Becker on Saturday afternoon.
The Fitchburg State ice hockey team (0-1-1, 0-0-0 MASCAC) will be back in action on Tuesday as it visits New England College for a contest starting at 7 p.m.
