The Fitchburg State ice hockey team registered its fourth victory of the season, defeating Stonehill College 6-3 in ECAC Northeast action this evening at the Wallace Civic Center.

Hutton collects a career-high five points in Falcons victory
FITCHBURG, Mass. (November 25, 2008) - The Fitchburg State ice hockey team registered its fourth victory of the season, defeating Stonehill College 6-3 in ECAC Northeast action this evening at the Wallace Civic Center.

Junior Andrew Hutton (Brewster, Mass./Boston Harbor Wolves) led all scorers, posting a career-high five points on two goals and three assists. Senior captain Matt Arsenault (Gardner, Mass./Gardner) was also solid with two goals scored, while fellow captain Bobby Kaloustian (Marlborough, Mass./Suffolk University) chipped in with two assists.
Stonehill used a balance offensive attack as junior Pete Roundy (Simsbury, Conn./Kimball Union), senior Frank Amato (West Springfield, Mass./Springfield Cathedral), and freshman Bill Harris (Weymouth, Mass./Weymouth) each netted goals for the Skyhawks.
Fitchburg State jumped out to an early 2-0 lead as Hutton and sophomore Chris Riggs (Sewell, N.J./Fort Vancouver Pioneers) connected for back-to-back scores midway through the first period. Riggs ignited the scoring with his third goal of the season off a dish from Hutton and Kaloustian before Hutton followed suit with his third score of the year.
Stonehill responded early in the second period as Roundy notched his second goal of the season just 0:13 into the frame. Freshman Kris Threlkeld (Centerville, Ohio/CD Selects) put Fitchburg State back up by two with his second collegiate score at the 10:29 mark, but Harris recorded a Skyhawk goal late in the frame to cut the in half.
In the third period, Fitchburg State put the game away, registering three consecutive goals to clinch its fourth victory of the season. Arsenault led the charge with two scores and the game-winner while Hutton added his team-leading fourth score of the season to ice the contest.
Fitchburg State out-shot Stonehill 41-36 in the contest, while completing 4-of-6 opportunities on the power-play. Freshman goaltender Bobby Leiser (Monroe, N.Y./New York Apple core) totaled 33 saves in the complete game effort for the Falcons, while sophomore Derek Chapdelaine (Granby, Mass./Springfield Cathedral) stopped 29 shots for the Skyhawks
Fitchburg State (4-1-0, 2-1-0 ECAC NE) will be in action again on Wednesday as it travels to UMass Dartmouth at 7:30 p.m. Stonehill (0-4-0, 0-4-0 ECAC NE) will host Curry College on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
