MASCAC Men’s Basketball Pre-Season Poll Announced
Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University men’s basketball team has been selected to finish fourth in the 2022-23 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men’s Basketball Pre-Season Coaches Poll with a total of 19 points as announced by the league office on Thursday afternoon.
Falcons selected fourth in 2022-23 MASCAC Men's Basketball Preseason Poll
Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University men's basketball team has been selected to finish fourth in the 2022-23 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Basketball Pre-Season Coaches Poll with a total of 19 points as announced by the league office on Thursday afternoon.
The Owls of Westfield State were selected to claim the 2022-23 MASCAC Men's Basketball title after earning six of the seven first place votes for a total of 36 points to out distance second place Worcester State's total of 31 points, which included the final first place ballot.
Salem State followed in the third slot with 26 points, while Fitchburg State University landed fourth in the preseason poll after amassing 19 points. Up next was the Bears of Bridgewater State in the fifth spot with 14 points, while MCLA and Framingham State rounded out this year's preseason poll in sixth and seventh with 11 points and ten points respectively.
The Falcons will kick off the year on Tuesday, November 8th as they travel to Regis College to take on the Pride in non-conference action, starting at 8:00 PM.
The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the nation's first Division III men's and women's playing conference, has a rich and storied tradition of competitive success while celebrating excellence in the classroom. MASCAC core member schools include Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University. Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sports of football and men's ice hockey, while Western Connecticut State University joined the conference as an affiliate member in football beginning in 2013-14.
