Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State freshman forward Lena Kassel (Stuttgart, Germany) was recently selected Little East Conference (LEC) Field Hockey Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday.
The first-year Falcon picks up her second weekly honor of the season after registering 11 points on five goals and one assist over two games for the Green and Gold. Kassel notched a pair of tallies in a setback to WPI on Monday afternoon before posting three goals and one helper in a 7-1 triumph over Salem State on Friday evening.
The Fitchburg State field hockey team (2-3, 1-1 LEC) returns to action on Wednesday as they travel to Colby-Sawyer to take on the Chargers in non-conference action, starting at 4:00 PM.
