Baseball Takes Down AMCATS in Non-Conference Action

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Falcons got on the board first in the bottom of the third. Matthew Smith (Flanders, NJ) would come across to score the game's first run off of a wild pitch.
- Fitchburg's second and last score came in the bottom of the fourth. This time, Smith would bring in Cole DuHaime (Warminster, PA) on a single through the left side.
- The AMCATS would get one run back in the top of the fifth on a home run by Evan Dumeny to left field, breaking up Jason Bickford's (Exeter, NH) no-hit bid. That solo shot was the only run that Anna Maria would score, getting the final of 2-1.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Pete Joslyn (Holden, MA) got the win (1-0) for the Falcons after pitching 1.2 innings, allowing one hit and two strikeouts.
- AJ Guitron-Moore suffered the loss (0-2) after going 4 innings, allowing five hits, one earned run, and striking out 6.
- Demetrius Sampalis (North Scituate, RI) earned his first save of the season after pitching 2.2 innings, with no hits allowed and three strikeouts.
