WINTER HAVEN, FL - Fitchburg State University baseball suffered their fourth loss of the season as they were defeated by Babson College, 12-2 on their southern swing in Florida on Friday afternoon.
Freshman Nik Powers suffered his first loss of the year, going six innings with four earned runs and two strikeouts.
The Beavers got on the board early, tacking on three runs in the first inning. They added to their advantage with one run in the second and third inning respectively.
Fitchburg State was able to cut the deficit to 5-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning on a Mike Martignetti single that drove home Brendan Cutler. Sam Brown followed with a ground out to first base that resulted in Jake Dallaire scoring from third.
Babson ruined any comeback chances for the Green & Gold as they tacked on seven runs in the seventh inning, resulting in the final 12-2 score.
The Falcons will return to the diamond tomorrow at Lake Bonny Park to take on Suffolk at 12:30 pm.
