Men's Indoor Track & Field
As a member of the indoor track team, this young man earned All-American honors at the 2013 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships, placing sixth overall in the mile with a time of 4:10.29.
Over the course of the season, he set a new Fitchburg State record in the mile with a time of 4:07.29, while also posting an all-time mark in the 5000m run.
He is a six time MASCAC Indoor Track Athlete of the Week and a one-time ECAC Division III New England Track Athlete of the Week.

Kerry Alcott
Softball
Over her career, she has etched her name in the Falcon record books, ranking sixth all-time with 19 wins and second all-time with a 1.94 career ERA.
This season, this young lady ranked first on the team in several categories, including ERA, strikeouts, innings pitched, appearances and complete games. Throughout the year, she set a new single game strikeout mark with 15 strikeouts vs. Nichols College and was named to the MASCAC All-Conference second team.
Off the field she has been just as impressive, holding a 3.89 GPA in Special Education.

Men's Soccer
As a four-year member of the Fitchburg State men’s soccer team, he led the Falcons to a pair of MASCAC playoff runs, while earning MASCAC All-Academic honors in each of his four years.
Upon graduating with a 3.85 GPA, this young man will earn a major in Criminal Justice, while being a four-year member of the Dean’s List. More recently, he completed an internship in Washington D.C. with the Department of State.

On the field, she has appeared in 64 career games, playing an important defensive role in the Falcons four consecutive playoff berths.
Off the field, she holds a 3.59 GPA in Secondary Education while concentrating in History. She has been an active member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and was named team captain of the 2014 women’s lacrosse team.

He has consistently motivated his peers by example, leading the Fitchburg State baseball team to its first MASCAC post-season in nearly ten years.
With nearly 26 new players and only six returners, this young man’s role as a captain, as a sophomore, was even more important. From day one he adopted the idea of family and has brought that mindset to his team every day. He exemplifies every meaning of the Athletic Leadership Award, while bringing out the very best of each member of the team.
Not only will his baseball stats speak for themself, catching almost every single game, but this young man goes above and beyond all areas of competition in order to make his team successful.

Brittany Whiting
Softball
Through her hard work and outstanding leadership, this young woman has etched her name in the Fitchburg state record books, ranking third all-time with 289 strikeouts, fifth all-time with 330 innings pitched and seventh all time with 60 appearances.
This year, her hard work paid off, earning MASCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week honors as well as ECAC Softball Pitcher of the Week honors.

Joshua Hofer
Men's Soccer
This year’s winner has certainly done that as he has faced personal challenges head-on and has continued to succeed academically and athletically.
Born in Liberia during a civil war, this young man grew up with his grandmother at an orphan house until the age of 15. He was then adopted by a family in Washington State and learned at the age of 18 that his mother was alive and lived in Manchester, NH, where he reunited with her.
In April of 2011, he joined the Manchester High School housing program that enabled him to live and study with fellow students until his graduation in 2012.
At Fitchburg State, this young man has worked hard to put himself in a position to compete on two intercollegiate teams while succeeding academically through some difficult times. He not only found an institution for him to study but he also found a home at Fitchburg State University.

Garrett Dellechiaie
Football
This year’s first recipient of the Male Rookie of the Year Award is a freshman from Leominster, Mass. As a member of the Fitchburg State football team, this young man made a significant impact in the Falcons lineup, earning multiple post-season honors.
Over the course of the season, he threw for over 1900 yards while breaking the single season touchdown mark with 25 touchdown passes.
For his efforts, he was tabbed the ECAC Division III North Offensive Rookie of the Year, the MASCAC Rookie of the Year and Worcester All-Area Freshman of the Year.

Steven Drury Jr.
Baseball
Our second recipient hails from Ashburnham, Massachusetts and has also achieved amazing feats this year.
As a member of the baseball team, this young man finished the regular season atop the conference in batting average (.455) and tied for third in RBI (26). He ranked first on the Falcons squad in several categories, including hits, runs scored, doubles, triples and homeruns, while posting an on-base percentage of .540 and slugging percentage of .769.
For his efforts he was selected to the MASCAC All-Conference first team and is the reigning MASCAC Co-Rookie of the Year.

Ali Laferriere
Women's Lacrosse
This year’s female Rookie of the Year Award is presented to a freshman, History major from Tyngsboro, Mass. As a member of the Fitchburg State women’s lacrosse team, this young lady played an instrumental role in the Falcons playoff run.
On the field, she paved the way for the Falcons, ranking second overall in the MASCAC with 76 points. Her 67 goals this season broke Fitchburg State’s single season goals record, while her 128 draw controls also etched her name in the program record books.
For her efforts, she was named to the MASCAC All-Conference second team.

Pat Haverty
Football
Pat Haverty, a seven-year member of the Fitchburg State football coaching staff was named the 2013 MASCAC Football Coach of the Year as well as the 2013 Worcester Area Football Coach of the Year at the conclusion of the 2013-14 fall season.
This past season, Haverty guided the Falcons to an overall record of 6-4 and a 5-3 clip within the confernce, while also naming six player to the MASCAC All-Confernce teams.

Aidan Hanratty
Men's Soccer
This season Aidan witnessed a breakout season for the Fitchburg State men's soccer team, leading the Falcons to their second consecutive playoff berth, while also being crowned the NCAA DIII Statistical Champion with a .910 save percentage.
In addition to his national accolade, Hanratty also ranked first within the MASCAC with a minimal 0.59 goals against average and in saves with 101 stops between the pipes.
