Sophomore Bobby Leiser (Monroe, N.Y./New York Applecore) earns his first Soarin Falcon honor after being named the MASCAC Ice Hockey Goalie of the Week as announced by the conference office this week.

Leiser earns his first career weekly honor after being named the MASCAC's Goalie of the Week for ice hockey. Leiser led Fitchburg State to a perfect 3-0 record, totaling 106 saves, a 1.13 goals against average and .973 saves percentage in the process. The sophomore net minder led the Falcons to a 4-1 victory over New England College with a career-best 52 stops, while adding 30 saves in 6-1 triumph over Salve Regina. Leiser rounded out the week with an impressive 24 save performance, leading Fitchburg State to a convincing 9-1 victory over conference foe Framingham State.

This season, Leiser has proven to be a defensive wall for the Falcons, totaling a team-best 6-1-0 record with 223 saves and a .910 save percentage.  He currently ranks among league leaders in several categories, including save percentage (2nd), winning percentage (1st), and goals against average (6th).

The Falcons ice hockey team (9-3-1, 5-2-0 MASCAC) will hit the ice again on Thursday as it visits Salem State College at 7 p.m.
