FITCHBURG, Mass. - The Fitchburg State University women's soccer team, led by netminder Shelby Gale, blanked Dean College 2-0 in non-conference action on Wednesday evening at Elliot Field. With the win the Falcons' record improves to 5-8 on the season.
Fitchburg State's Hannah Keohan notched her first two collegiate goals and Gale made one save to earn her first collegiate win and shutout.
Dean College was led by freshman goaltender Macy Parisee who posted 19 saves in the loss.
Keohan opened the scoring at the 19 minute mark, as teammate Siobhan O'Connell threaded a pass through the middle for the sophomores' first collegiate goal. The Falcons doubled the lead ten minutes later as senior Ali Sheehan, slicing down the right wing, found an open Keohan with a nifty cross pass for the 2-0 lead.
The Falcons dominated the second half with strong play in the backfield from seniors Samantha Zina and Sheehan as well as freshman Gabriella Foster.
