Lowell, Mass. native collects first weekly honor of the season
FITCHBURG, Mass. – Junior guard Jonathan Perez (Lowell, Mass.) was recently tabbed Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
The first-year Falcon averaged 20.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, two assists, 0.5 steals and 0.5 blocks, while shooting 57.3% (11-of-19) from the field in a 2-0 week for the Green and Gold. The junior guard posted a double-double of 14 points and 11 boards in addition to three assists in a 77-76 win over Westfield State on Wednesday before adding 27 points, six rebounds, one assist, one steal and a block in an 89-76 triumph against Bridgewater State on Saturday.
The Fitchburg State men's basketball team (11-14, 6-6 MASCAC) returns to action on Tuesday as it hosts the Owls of Westfield State University in a MASCAC quarterfinal round game at 7:00 P.M.
