Falcons slated to open 2018 season at Anna Maria on February 24th
Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State baseball team's 2018 season has been announced with the Falcons slated play a total of 40 games, including eight games during its annual spring trip to Winter Haven, Florida.
The Green and Gold concluded last season with an overall record of 14-20-1 and a 7-7 mark with Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) play, en-route to earning the third seed in the 2017 MASCAC Baseball post-season tournament.
This season, Fitchburg State is scheduled to play three teams who qualified for the 2017 NCAA DIII Regionals, while also playing 11 teams that won at least 20 games last season.
"This year's schedule was designed to challenge us for conference play." Said Fitchburg State head baseball coach Kevin Barnaby.
"Our conference will be better than ever with a lot of teams returning key players all over the field, so we felt the need to add teams that won their conferences last year, and are regionally ranked every year." Barnaby continued.
"Hopefully playing four or five challenging games each week will help prepare us for an extended run in our conference's post-season tournament."
The Falcons open their 2018 slate on February 24th as they travel to Anna Maria College before visiting Salve Regina University one week later (3/3) for a pair of non-conference match ups to open the season before playing eight games in Winter Haven, Fla.
