Club Sports

The Club Sports program supports the mission of Recreation Services by providing a recreational and competitive outlet that promotes healthy, active lifestyles for Fitchburg State students.  Students will enhance their physical, psychological, ethical, intellectual and social development through their experiences with the Club Sports program.  Recreation Services understands that sport clubs play an integral role in co-curricular education and provides support and assistance with coordination of facilities and leadership training for officers.

The Fitchburg State Club Sports program serves students' individual interests in different sporting activities.  These interests could be competitive, recreational/social or instructional in nature.  Typically, sport clubs are active throughout the year, filling a void that can't be filled through intramural activities alone.

An important thing to remember is that sport clubs are organized and run by student leaders.  This is a great opportunity to learn skills in decision-making, leadership development and fiscal responsibility.  Leaders will assist in coordinating practice and game times, recruitment efforts, marketing strategies and community service efforts.  Whether a club is successful or not will be determined by the students themselves.

If you are a student and we currently do not have a sport club that meets your needs, please contact Drew Guay @ 978.665.4648 or aguay1@fitchburgstate.edu.  We will be happy to assist you in gauging student interest in the activity.

Potential sport clubs could include:  Outdoor Club, Running/Triathlon Club, Fantasy Sports Club,  Men's Lacrosse, etc.
