Sixteen Falcons Recognized At 35th Annual Honors Convocation
The Fitchburg State athletic department had sixteen student-athletes recognized at the Thirty-Fifth Annual Honors Convocation hosted by the University on Thursday afternoon.
Bordonaro, Stone lead Falcons with President’s Scholar Award nominations
FITCHBURG, Mass. (April 27, 2012) – The Fitchburg State athletic department had sixteen student-athletes recognized at the Thirty-Fifth Annual Honors Convocation hosted by the University on Thursday afternoon.
Sophomores Carmen Bordonaro (Saugus, Mass./Saugus) and Nicole Stone (Webster, Mass./Bartlett) led the Fitchburg State athletic honorees, after collecting the President’s Scholar Award, while seven other Falcons were named to the Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges list. Recipients included, senior Donald Hunt (Winchendon, Mass./Murdock), classmate Chris Kibler (Bath, Maine/Morse), junior William Lary (Winchendon, Mass./Murdock), senior Katrina Marrone (Springfield, Mass./Springfield Central), junior Brett Provost (Ludlow, Mass./Connecticut Jr. Wolfpack), senior Katy Scott (Wilbraham, Mass./Minnechaug) and classmate Kris Threlkeld (Centerville, Ohio/CD Selects).
Scott, senior Steven Ward (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury) and junior Emily Lane (Clinton, Conn./The Morgan School) were honored with the Leadership Academy Commonwealth Scholar Award, while Lane also collected the Communication Media, Photography Student of the Year honor.
Junior Joseph Caveney (Fitchburg, Mass./New England Jr. Huskies) brought home the Business Administration, Christopher Hughes Memorial Award, while senior Madeline Merchant (Gardner, Mass./Gardner) and Kibler rounded out the list of award winners with the Leadership in Exercise and Sport Science Award.
